The Upper West Side of Manhattan is service by the red MTA No.1 and No.9 train. You can exit at the 96th Street Express stop station and walk up to 101st Street, or get off at the local 103rd Street station and walk down. The club is located in the basement of the apartment building and is designated by a red door, between Broadway and West End Avenue on the north side of the street.

St. Clair Clement - Fencing Master

Clement was born in Harlem in 1933. After his return from Germany as a veteran in 1960, he became a member of the Coaches Association of America (ACAOFA), attended the Olympic Training Ground Coaches College and continues to build and promote fencing programs to America, his Harlem community and Riverbank State Park in Upper Manhattan. He is a lifetime member of the United States Fencing Association of America (USFA) and co-founded the "East Harlem International Fencing Club" in Harlem in 1994. In 1996, Clement was the scorekeeper for the Womens World Cup finals held in Atlanta, Georgia prior to the Olympics. Subsequently, he was selected to assist with the pre-production assignment for the fencing venue and to service the international press and the public throughout the entire event.

In 2002, the United States Fencing Association of America "recognized and honored Clement for outstanding contribution to fencing clubs in America" during the annual Summer Nationals in Austin, Texas.

The New York City Empire State Summer Games made him the regional director, representing NYC's youth fencing at the event.

From 1999 to 2004 he taught the intricacies of fencing at St. Bernard's School for boys, a discipline that was not part of the curriculum prior to Clement's arrival. Prior to St. Bernard's, he ran a fencing program at Bronx Leadership academy.

Mr. Clement was a co-founder 'Workshop in Business Opportunities'. He also managed a career in advertising and public relations, running his own firm for 35 years, with clients ranging from the NYC Board of Education to AmEx to the NCAAP legal defense fund. He produced his own cable program on the Public Channel called 'People to People'.

Harold Rodgers - Assistant Coach

CPA, retired and alumn of North Carolina State University Fencing team. He has been a student under Clement for over 15 years. His specialty is foil, but he also fences epee and saber.

 

Paul J. Williams - Assistant Coach

Currently teaches fencing in an After School Program sponsored by the New York Arts Foundation (NYFA). He has studied and trained with Clement for over 10 years. In November 2003, he came first in the Metro Division for foil earning a C class ranking and making him eligible for the Nationals.

 

 

Gregory A. Vaughn Sr. - Assistant Coach

He taught fencing at St. Francis College from Spring 2005 to Spring 2007. In 2006 he was appointed as Head Coach of Women’s Fencing at St. Francis College. He attended the “Coaches College” at the Olympic Training Center the summer of 2006 and completed training in Epee and Saber.

Nyatui Turnage - Assistant Coach

He is the Associate Director of Business Services at Per Scholas and has been training with St. Clair for several years. His first weapon is the saber but he also fences foil and epee.
